If it was'nt for Rottnest Island Perth would be great, but its not! Sometimes there can be great waves on offer in Perth, in both winter and summer. In winter there are several options of where to surf, but in summer the only place to surf is trigg point, it gets very crowded! Both Trigg and Scaborough can have great banks in winter, but trigg point often has greta shape and length, but also upwards to 150 guys out! if you are desperate for some waves you can catch a ferry from hillarys boat harbour.. see you out there!
Dominant Swell and Wind Direction : Winter can see decent swell sizes, but also sometimes very messy onshore days. Summer can also have about a week per season of great waves, but it is very crowded at the point. The choice of best season comes down to whether you can handle crowds, like to surf in boardies or a spring suit or enjoy the cold.

Perth surf is puny and crap. Small can be great if the sand banks can work but they never do. Scabs has to be one of the worst waves about and always straight banks. Once in a blue moon a surfer will come out of a scab barrel and it mostly full of lids. and trigg is too crowded for what is a very overrated wave. And then when the swell does get up the winds are usually f*cked and blowing an onshore gale. Some twit has posted south fremantle beaches as a surf spot...Your kidding me right? it actually better not to surf in perth and save yourself the pain and suffering.

Sydney has surf, the Goldy is only about 1/2 hr to 1hr from Brisbane, Melbourne surfers travel the hour to Torquay, Phillip Island, Mornington.Perth surfers travel a minimum of 1/2 hr to crappy locations or a minimum of an hour to somewhere half decent. Lets get one thing straight here - Perth gets swell, but has few waves of any quality. Trigg point undoubtedly the best. May as well live in Launceston!
