Additional Surfing Infos
The wave is definitly a fun wave and under the right conditions can be pretty good. It's much more suited to longboards than shortboards but the locals really have it wired and rip on shortboards (there are several Mexican national champions who live and are from Sayulita). If the swell is over about 6' it tends to close out and many other spots in the area are much better. It is very crowded with novice surfers from all over the world.
+
Sayulita is a casual, mellow surf break with a fast shortboard ride before the main section, and a longboard ride and glide after the main section. It holds a lot of surfers and has a lot of waves for everyone. Las Olas surf school sometimes crowds the break. Give waves, get waves. Respect the locals... they are HOT! Watch out for people who don't wear leashes. Easy parking and lots of tacos.
  Overview
Atmosphere girls, surf well, beatiful beach....sun...bla bla bla....evrything. Sayulita is a great little town with nice people and very good local surfers. In recent years it has become a destination for snowbirds from the States and Canada as well a Europe who all seem to want to learn to surf. The level of clue-lessness is mind boggling. I have been personally run over three times in one session. A introductary lessons is advisable. Surfboard rentals can be found on the beach as well as lessons for beginners and advanced surfers. Patricio Gonzales, national longboard champion for Mexico, gives lessons with Patricia at Capitan Pablos, located directly in front of the main break. They will direct you to the beginners area, clue you in on the surfing dos and donts and rent you a board that is suited for your size and experience. The town has a nice ambiance and good inexpensive food. Definitly avoid Christmas and Easter (Semana Santa)as the town completes fills up with non Mexican tourist as well a hordes from Guadalajara and Mexico City.
General This break is in a quintessential Mexican puebla. It has many tourists during the Nov-May period and few from Jun-October. A very relaxed atmosphere. Take t-shirts and wax to make friends with the locals. Some Spanish is helpful but not necessary. Try www.tambo-de-oro.com for a place to stay. If you plan to tour the area, a car and guide are helpful to find the other local spots. SAYULITA IS A LOT OF FUN.

I arrived to Sayulita with a 4.5-5 ft 20 sec swell... waves were fun, not as good as I expected, but definetely a good place to surf and have fun. One tip, go early in the morning, there is much fewer people

Puna surf instructor in Sayulita
A few days ago PUNA collided with my girlfriend while surfing a wave out front of Terrazolla. Obviously she was trying to impress someone on the beach. PUNA fell down then got in my girlfriends face and aggressively cussed her out, with out letting up. Two of PUNA's male friends then tried hitting my girlfriend again and blocked my lane as we were trying to leave. How pansy is that? Macho men my smile! They ran us off the 3ft waves!!! Later PUNA tresspassed on my property and demanded payment for a broken skag. PUNA sent her boyfriend Niko (a surfer board repairman) to collect the money at 10:30 the following night as I lay sleeping.

Sayulita is a beginners beach. My girlfriend was having her best day surfing ever till that crazy b**ch came out of no where. My girlfriend never wants to surf again, but dont feel sorry for her, she has brains and talent. PUNA surfs because she failed at life. PUNA is able to live the life of a bum because of the novice surfers that bring millions to Sayulita every year. I would guess PUNA gets only pennies of that. Never give PUNA another dollar, but pity Niko as he was only doing what he was told like a good young boyfriend should. PUNA likes to treat people like people have treated her, trust me everyone knows PUNA IS A HACK!! PUNA is a bully. Never take a lesson from PUNA as she is a two-faced theif. PUNA is America and I have no idea how she thought she could tell me to "leave Sayulita". That just proves that PUNA is also CRAZY!

----Take the $50 bucks PUNA, its the last you will ever get. Keep living small, acting small, and being small PUNA. You are a BUM and you wreek of sadness!! I feel sorry you think you have to treat people who share an interest with you like they are the enemy. PUNA you are the enemy, LEAVE SAYULITA!!!!! ----

PUNA also yelled at me; "its not a game out there" and she is so very wrong. It is a game, we surf for fun. PUNA surfs for money and she is a BUM, so I guess she is losing her game?????

Donde esta Nacho?
So I spent a month here back in '99 or so. I had a great time even though it was pretty flat (lots of time on the LB). I met some great locals that took care of us... seriously good people. Does anyone know a kid (probably a man now) that goes by the name "Nacho?" I gave him my board when I left because he was such a good dude. Just wondering if he is still surfing and what he is up to. Please reply if you know who I am talking about. He had a buddy named Manuel whose parents owned a local restaurant. Tigre was a nice kid then too. We left our boards on the beach all day once and they were still there when we got back. Probably not that way now, as most places change for the worse. Seriously folks, let me know if you have info on Nacho. Peace, bikes and F#*k George Bush(I am an American by the way).
