third time to sayulita, also my last. ultra-crowded, expensive, and really pretty mediocre surf. there are tons of better spots up and down the coast. most of the locals are assholes, icluding the dudes running the surf schools. maybe the gringos who have bought houses down here are worse though, thinking they own the break and can drop in on anyone. guy got sucker-punched and needed his jaw wired shut, and another had his ear bitten off. all in the same week. do yourself a favor and go somewhere better.

WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY
i visited sayulita in the summer of 07 and it is by far the worse place mexico has to offer. the surf is knee to thigh high everyday with rude locals that wont even let you drop in, the food was the worst ive ever eaten but yet was top dollar price including the beers. hotels are like 700 pesos a night which is 70 u.s. dollars. (AVOID THIS TOURIST TRAP) the whole time we were there we had this wierd vibe about the place, like the locals were plotting and schammin tryin to rip you off as much as they could before you come to your senses and leave that stupid place. we ended up headin further south to spots like pascuales to rio de nexpa and ended up having the time of our lives with solid head high waves and those cheap mexico prices with delicous food

Puna surf instructor in Sayulita
A few days ago PUNA collided with my girlfriend while surfing a wave out front of Terrazolla. Obviously she was trying to impress someone on the beach. PUNA fell down then got in my girlfriends face and aggressively cussed her out, with out letting up. Two of PUNA's male friends then tried hitting my girlfriend again and blocked my lane as we were trying to leave. How pansy is that? Macho men my smile! They ran us off the 3ft waves!!! Later PUNA tresspassed on my property and demanded payment for a broken skag. PUNA sent her boyfriend Niko (a surfer board repairman) to collect the money at 10:30 the following night as I lay sleeping.

Sayulita is a beginners beach. My girlfriend was having her best day surfing ever till that crazy b**ch came out of no where. My girlfriend never wants to surf again, but dont feel sorry for her, she has brains and talent. PUNA surfs because she failed at life. PUNA is able to live the life of a bum because of the novice surfers that bring millions to Sayulita every year. I would guess PUNA gets only pennies of that. Never give PUNA another dollar, but pity Niko as he was only doing what he was told like a good young boyfriend should. PUNA likes to treat people like people have treated her, trust me everyone knows PUNA IS A HACK!! PUNA is a bully. Never take a lesson from PUNA as she is a two-faced theif. PUNA is America and I have no idea how she thought she could tell me to "leave Sayulita". That just proves that PUNA is also CRAZY!

----Take the $50 bucks PUNA, its the last you will ever get. Keep living small, acting small, and being small PUNA. You are a BUM and you wreek of sadness!! I feel sorry you think you have to treat people who share an interest with you like they are the enemy. PUNA you are the enemy, LEAVE SAYULITA!!!!! ----

PUNA also yelled at me; "its not a game out there" and she is so very wrong. It is a game, we surf for fun. PUNA surfs for money and she is a BUM, so I guess she is losing her game?????

Donde esta Nacho?
So I spent a month here back in '99 or so. I had a great time even though it was pretty flat (lots of time on the LB). I met some great locals that took care of us... seriously good people. Does anyone know a kid (probably a man now) that goes by the name "Nacho?" I gave him my board when I left because he was such a good dude. Just wondering if he is still surfing and what he is up to. Please reply if you know who I am talking about. He had a buddy named Manuel whose parents owned a local restaurant. Tigre was a nice kid then too. We left our boards on the beach all day once and they were still there when we got back. Probably not that way now, as most places change for the worse. Seriously folks, let me know if you have info on Nacho. Peace, bikes and F#*k George Bush(I am an American by the way).

Sayulita Information
I've been traveling to Sayulita for the past 5 years, and yes it has changed A LOT over the past years. I do get grumpy with all the people out in the water too, but guys stop bitchin' it is a beatuiful place with nice people. You can't expect waves to be great every single day when your there when you are only there for a week. GET OVER IT, its cheaper than a ski vacation. The locals are good, respect that you are in there water, give em a smile. The best advice is they are fast when they paddle don't even try to paddle cause THEY WILL catch the wave. Always move out of their way. Don't act like YOU can show them something and are better, cause they are better than you, so give it up. Let them have the wave there is always the next. I promise they will be nicer. Ohh and Tigre isn't that bad of a guy. Sininen is the main surf shop, and the best place to buy anything you need or to have anything repaired.
Beginer surfers: if you are facing the ocean you should surf the end of the wave. This would be on the right break.
You could also surf infront of Sininen new surf shop, which the rent boards, and sell fins, rashguards, etc..
Tigre also has opened up a shop right below his/family
restaurant which also is not to bad.
Cheap food: Every sat there is a lady walking up and down on the beach selling the best tamales for .50 or $1 and fri and sat there is a sandwich place open right across from the main internet caffee in the plaza. There is only 3 stools infront but the sandwiches are good and cheap.
Sayulita is a wonderful town with wonderful people. I've been all over the world surfing but Mexico is my favorite country and Sayulita has become ONE of my favorite villages even though it is growing.

sayulita got me sick
I've been to Sayulita twice. Its a nice town and the surfs OK. I got ecoli while I was there. The town smells like sewer from the creek that drains into to ocean where we surf. While I was there they posted signs that read it was unsafe to swim in the waters because of polution. These signs were torn down the next day. Its 3 months later and I'm still sick but with somthing different we don't know what. I think its from the rats and their feces that we came in contact with numerous times. I will not be returning to the dirty town of Sayulita.

SAYULITA
Just got back from 5 days of surfing the Punta Mita area, Sayulita is an OK wave, and the only thing that it has going, is that it is ultra safe and friendly. If you want some real waves you will have to get a boat rented from one of many on the beach to take you to the real spots with juice.. HAVE FUN
