wtf - Ahem, how is it crowded if it's unknown or vice versa.....?! And looks shitty but i don't care, the key to nice surf is to get an uncrowded break

Awesome place - Been there for a few months and took my first surfing steps there ;)

The place is awesome and the locals are great when you get to know them a bit better. Watch the tide though, water gets to about 30cm deep with reef all over the place..

Tip: try the off season, the locals find the water too cold then :P

it's a safe place 4 u...... - we've visited unawatuna sevaral times...
it's a wonderful place with very nice people!!
u can get a life time experiance ..........&so much fun.

Sound place - Really good place, locals are snakes but they are everywhere i have been. At least here they smile and after a while they will giove you respect and wave priority. To be honest contary to the other bloke I found that they left the water when we went in! ALSO THEY CAN'T SURF IT BIG AND THIS BREAK IS SHELTERED WHEN EVERYWHERE ELSE IS BLOWNOUT. So now you know, enjoy and smile at the locals though keep your girlfriends well away from them.

Stay at home and avoid a crowded surf experience - Not a bad wave it is OK but gets fat after the take off and can be frustrating trying to get a wave cause you get snaked by every local in the region. As with most places in SL as soon a a foreigner paddles out they come out of the jungle to spoil your surf and snake you. Place is full of Isrealies who are crap but think they are on the ASP Tour.
