surfing in Sri Lanka |
| |
Plus: good fun waves, offshore winds during the monsoon, cheap travel. The season at the west-east (hikkaduwa, midigama etc) is from nov-march and then at the east coast (arugam bay) it's from may-sept.
Minus: Fickle swells and winds, pollution, localism, Suffering a major civil war which is no longer contained in the Northern provinces. Get good travel advice before going!
The surf in Sri Lanka is there on the whole south coast. there are heaps of places that pic up the swell and provide up to 3ft of good quility waves, if you want the good stuff youll have to go in season Jan/Feb. Sri Lanka is average in all departments, the surf the people the vibe everything. Some days are good in the water but if everyone who goes there is honest it is crowded. The local surfers are pretty good and are getting more and more aggro towards foreigners each season,
