Water Quality - My high school science fair project involved monitoring the water quality of both Carmel river beach and the lagoon. If you don't want to get sick, I wouldn't recommend getting in the Ocean here. Consistently bacteria laden water.

location - Greetings,
I live in Monterey and i want to start bodysurfin again, is the beach that is just down south of carmel off pch where all the tourists park on the side of the road there?

- Ok Douch bag that "lives up the street." Guys do surf this spot. Get it. Obviously you have not looked at it during all the hours of everyday throughout the year. It is a bodyboarding spot, and it is not surfed often, but yes THEY DO SURF IT from time to time. And seal beach guy. You may have a heavy wave down south, but these pictures do not do this spot justice. It is gnarly. The Monterey Canyon comes right to the river mouth, so it is incredibly deep right offshore. You should see this place on a big swell. Absolutely nuts. Or better yet go down Ribera road, and check out the beach down there. Walls of death. Off for now, Peace.
