At its peak east england has some world class surf. Mostly it fits about average. Swell can range from pretty flat calm to pushing 20ft. Periods also vary, though its pretty rare to get a decent period with a decent swell. Mainly you end up with an average swell around 3-6ft with a period round 9-10 seconds.
If your into surfing its definately worth checking out. And if its pretty close to you then go for it! Its around average most of the year and for beginners its pretty uncrowded... but when the surf hits its peak its just about the best surf you'll find in the UK.
Dominant Swell and Wind Direction : Dominant swell is a North based swell, for most areas this fits quite well.
Wind direction is mainly westernly, for a prime surf west is the best direction, although many places will work on a north west wind.

Good first outing - great weather.
Managed to get one great wave - felt like I was going supersonic (til I hit the beach!)
Good fun - just need to work on the timing.
Only problem was the difficulty getting back into More...
