Additional Surfing Infos
Very fun wave, board rental available as well as wet suits.
  Overview
Atmosphere Beautiful beach in the midle of natural park Alentejano, surrounded nice hills with no human sign of civilization, just a car park and a small bar,and a imponent cliffs on both sides of the beach. Nice atmosphere quite and relexed also in hi-season(August)as you never feel the crowd on the beach as in the water.
General Definitely good to surf year round, also in August with small waves 'cause are hollow and fast.it's more protected from NW wind than Praia Carrapeteira.Easy acces to the water, no rips up to 6ft-2m.With low tide,3ft swell there are to good point:in front of carpark, where a submerged rock is(left),and at the of the beach(short walk 10min)next to the rocks(left&right)

good times
just came back from a short week of surfing there.
had a real good time: always swell between 1 and 2 meters, good weather, warm water (surf with boardshort was possible), warm air (28°C).
good atmosphere there. locals are nice.
drawbacks: a little crowded all over the week and any time of day.
when it was low-tide, mostly closeouts came in and smashed the lineup (funny to watch, unfunny if you're in).

i will definately come back soon.

Mediocre!
Just back from a trip to Portugal and very disappointted with quality of surf there, Amado had waves every day but very poor quality, no shape and surprisingly lame. Very crowded on weekends and even mid-week with the inevitable surf schools. Some v good local surfers though who ripped in quite frankly crap surf! Autumn is the only time to go, less people and better waves.
