Boardrentals and accessible? - I'm staying in Roma the beginning of march 2006. Is this spot accesible by public transport (I know already about the train) or walking from the trainstation? And more important, can I rent a good SHORTBOARD (surftech, bic, nsp or even some polyester shapes) in the Santa Marinnella surfshops? Thanks a lot in advance and see you hopefully in the water here or in Focene in March!

so cal surfer's experience - I've been surfing since 1961.By chance,I surfed this place in late october 2004 on my round the world journey (I was in Italy for cultural reasons and had almost left my board in spain thinking there would be no surf in Italy) .Lucky for me, I showed up on a classic day. The beach scene reminded me of San Onofre, tons of surf cars on the beach, dudes just hanging out, watching the bros in the water.Probably 50 guys out, levels of skill from beginners to polished style, both short and long boards. The waves were 4 to 6 foot faces, not mushy,75 meter rides.Good power at the peak (actually, there were 3 take off spots).I would compare it to Cottons point(my home) in some ways, just not as powerful. The interesting thing was that there were set every 5 minutes, with 6 wave sets.I guess this is what one sees with a short period wind swell, and it sure took care of the crowd factor;there were waves for everyone and more. After seeing this with my own eyes, I was ready to move to Italy, until the friendly locals told me it was the best day of the season and it usually is blown out and gutless.Anyway,it was a great experience, one I will never forget.

fukn banzai locals banzai - locali di banzai nn datevi troppe arie su ste onde del cazzo, ke avete iniziato a surfare da poco tempo e v credete esperti. the sea is rarely big , usually in November, not may or april (as that dopehead said, I know, I live in rome) the problem as many have already said is the rocks,if the rocks freak u out, u might wanna' check Focene, a spot about 20 km south (its sandy). cmq italiani nn ve la tirate troppo xke avete uno spot ke raggiunge i 3 metri 2 volte all'anno, ke durante il resto dell'anno è quasi piatto. In oltre il nome BANZAI (copiato da PIPELINE, oahu northsore) NN CE STA bene.

really good spot, but full of looser...... - This spot is so good, but there is a problem. The locals is the problem, they think they are a pro surfer, but they don't respect anything in the water.I think most of them should be out of the water and learn....don't surf if you are a problem!!!!If you don't respect people here, you will not respect locals around the world...so you can be in trouble. One more thing the photo that you see are very old ciaooooo

no title - Whent there around 10 times, managed to surf it once...could be bad luck but by talking to the local surfers apparently it's quite normal...What I find the funniest is the general atmosphere that rules the place, specially the beach...it's like immerging your self in some stereotypical '60s surfing movie... very funny. The rocks are quite sharp (finished up with a whole bunch of band-aids all over my feet) and locals tend to be friendly even if quite showoffs...I'd like to see them showing off in front of a nice 2.5m wave in my beloved Atlantic... anyways if you're lucky try it. Un saluto a tutta la communitá surfista Italiana continuate cosi anche se non avete un cazzo d'onde almeno ci provate ed é quello che conta

sure - april may is good, the only thing in italy is that you cannot hope you'll get waves on a particular day, since it goes swell-flat-swell-flat all the time, i would say in april or may normally 18 and 15 days of swell out of 30 are roughly to be expected.
