The "Golden Bay" holiday complex is located 10km east of Heraklion, by the sea, between Kokkini Hani and Gournes. I lived in the hotel so i had acces to the beach....but everybody can surf this spot....it's a fun wave it breaks all sorts of places....
I was on a vacation to a city near Chania named Agia Apostoli and the beach golden bay...The only way to go to Crete is by ferry and plane hehe... There are hotels and restaurants all-over the beach... When it's windy the tourists are inside when it's sunny they are out.. And the only way to get big waves is when there about 10 m/s from the North-East.
You can walk out to the reef and be lucky to duck dive....I was on a vacation when there was a low pressure from north-east and it generated some nice waves....I bodyboarded the place but I think everybody can even surf it or bodyboard....You can get tubed a little but the waves are hard to predict....
