Drive along the road to Sitia in the east of Crete and look for the road with a sign saying "tourist beach" by a stand with a donkey and a local that sells fruit and good frapes. If you make it Vai then you have gone too far and missed the turn. Ask the locals where the donkey stand is. Then ask for the beach where tourists go from there. Bring a map incase you take a few wrong turns and some money for a hotel incase you dont want to turn around and drive back.
The spot has been utterly destroyed by trash on the beach and in the water by the tourists who would rather throw their potato chip bags, coca-cola cans, tampons, etc right there on the beach rather than carry it to their cars and then later throw it away. I guess they think that one little handful of trash wont make that much of a difference, especially because they probably will go to Turkey next year since the Euro has risen the prices in Greece. Keep the beaches clean!
Overview
Atmosphere
A good place to fool around in the summer heat and surf small waves. It is almost always breaking. Not a place to surf when the good swells come.
General
Nothing special about this spot, but you can surf it with a longboard over 150 days a year, so that's it major plus.
find your own surf
Why would you rely on internet info to find surf spots..Its part of the surfing adventure to find it yourself..dont harp on "wannasurf" because you are looking for surf spots using a mouse...Are you going to ask them for a refund next?
