Additional Surfing Infos
you can use from a 5´8 to a 7´0 surfboard, san blas(rights and lefts) is hard when it grows there is the time to go to matanchen when san blas is big, it wont let you get in, so you have to go to the other beahes, (matanchen , platanitos, santa curz or stoners - rights), they are very close.
  Overview
Atmosphere calm, friendly locals, really good food, a lot of mosquitos, but in good conditions it worth it
is hot in summer, very hot and some rain too, in december there is a nice weather but small waves. water cold in spring cause the
current of north but in general you only need a trunk and sunblock.
General i like it very much i think people there is great and locals some are really good surfer, i mean with world competition level
its a great a place to beginners in december-febraury but in a good season it can take a shit out of you.and it helps you to work in your moves but in not a powerful wave, matanchen it is but when the season it`s on
but its long enough to get tired, and its a very good tube(rights)

matanchen bay legend
if you live in San Blas year round, the wave selection is more expansive...You obviously were just passing thru.........

Mosquito Hell
Went there for a week in 83 with crew of four. Flew to Mazatlan, rented a car a drove in a hundred or so miles. Surf was 4 to 5 feet for a few days.Tried to drive out to Stoners one day and almost submerged the rentacar. Ran the rest of the way as we got ate up my no-see-ums. We made the clearing and ran stark raving mad out into the little beach as we dropped all our stuff and ripped off our shirts. Floated on our backs in the water with our noses sticking out of the water and watched the mosquitos circle above. They just waited us out. Pure hell.

Pepe's at San Blas..the Bay
Hi there.. Back in the mid to late 60s I took a surf trip to San Blas and stayed at what all the surfers called Pepe's. At the time I remember it being totally run down...maybe it had been built in the 30s or 20s or something.. I was 16 or 17 at the time so the memory fails me.. One thing I do remember about the hotel was that the big dining room had these tables with glass tops and all the surfers (and others) had put notes under the glass or business cards...this had maybe been going on for years because there were like 40 tables (it seems?) and they were all filled with these notes under the glass... Any ideas? Thanks,...My notes are/were under the glass too..
