Chacahua Access
Slightly epic. Catch bus to Puerto escondido drop off at Rio Grande town . Taxi collectivo 25 pesos to local town on shore of laguna system someting with Z.... .if you are in a group its probably worth chartering a boat for 50 $ or more otherwise Take a lancha boat about 50 p to the other side jump off to a camioneta thats usually waiting if your not the only passenger.Best time to arrive for transport early morning 5 - 6 am in Rio grande on the way back ask the locals if and when they are going back. Otherwise there is a long, sandy road for 4x4 vehicles you ll end up in the unspectacular town on the other side of the river.
surfbreaks and cabanas are on the left hand side of the river there a long beach starting from the lighthouse and continueing for some kilometers should be some beachbreak as well.
There are no Bars Discos or prostitutes eg. not suitable for the average Gringo surfer dude respect the local people speak at least some spanish and they will warmheartedly welcome you like most mexicans. Best place to stay, Cabanas Piocho nice guy very nice family. Camping is possible as well and is free if you consume food and drinks. Cabanas about 5-6 $ per person

Additional Surfing Infos
Awesome set up. Wild lagoons, lots of fruit and plenty of fish if you help the locals with boats. No formal accommodation, but available with negotiations. Camping is free in some places if you consume food and drinks. Apparently there is a great beach break in later wet-season months (Sep-Oct) around northern headland. Really requires good southern swell which is only reliable in wet season, particularly late part. Stay close to the beach (good breezes) or up above the ground to avoid the abundant amount of insects. Plenty of firewood, well water, and a handfull of supplies, feels like your tarzan.
  Overview
Atmosphere right on nicer than P.E. not that crowded but hard to get to nice people beautyful landscape and you ll be almost on your own best paca to relax
General one of the best in mex no hay mucho gringos nrteamericanos ni otros ladrones.

nice place
We had great waves there. Seemed to be lots of gringos staying at one of the cabanas. Was super cool swimming with the Nyabinbi Mexi kids in the lagoon. (Apparently, shipwrecked slaves that settled there and crossbred with the natives) Current was strong. During wet season the aligators (cayman, crocs, whatever) float out into the lineup.

gringos beware
Only come here if you are with some native speaking mexicans otherwise the locals will take you for a ride. The wave gets decent but like below you cant compete with the locals when theyre out which is all the time because none of them have real jobs. Paulito is sketchy, he was talking shit about us unbeknown we could understand the general gist. Or maybe he didnt care? Cool place, bulk weed but again only come with locals or a machete and dont take anything of value. If you are coming with just yourself and gringo mates think about staying somewhere else. Other than that it is still a truely magical place which feels more like tradicional mexico than anywhere else.
