Make friends with the locals. There are many other places to surf in the vicinity, but you need local help when venturing outside the main city. Also, Sri Lanka is in the middle of a civil war and the east coast of the country is on the frontline. Just a reminder.

Atmosphere
This is an international surf destination, equipped with all the things you would expect. The australian contingency is powerful. It's is a very poor region of Sri Lanka, power shortages and water shortages are common. Thank god for the surf bungalows and western surf influence.
General
Great, with tons of possibility for adventuring to other spots nearby with no crowds. The food is amazing.

I'm heading there for 2 weeks in June and renting a cabana up the north end of the bay 10/15 min from the point. Costwise you can get accom for $5 a night in Runga's bside the Galaxy. Just look up Galaxy resort in A-Bay

Gday guys, two of my friends and I are going to Aragum Bay in August for a month.
I was just wondering if anybody had rented a house before there and if so how much did you guys pay?
Im thinking it would be around the US700 mark or something.

how to get to a bay?
Hiya, will be flying into columbo soon to meet friends in a bay. They will just be hiring a man in a van to get them there as there is a group of them.I will be travelling alone, what would be the quickest/ cheapest way to get there?Any help would be much appreciated.Thanks.
