From the centre, drive to the north going to Barra da Tijuca. As you get there drive by the beach road all the way to Praia da Macumba. It's just after that, driving by the hills.

Very nice place to stay all day long. Pretty ladies sun bathing on the sand, nice atmosphere.
When you have a big southwest swell paddle by the rocks, and you'll get to the right place easily.
3 good spots there!!! The left spot: It's a powerful left with a barrel and a long wall for manoeuvres. It breaks from 2 to 8 feet with E and SE Swell. Sometimes a short right close to the rocks breaks too !!.Right spot : It's a long and manoeuvrable right. It breaks with SE,S and SW swell. On big days you can ride a 10 feet clean and strong right. Middle : Fun surf. All size, all swell direction. Lefts and rights.
Some of the most amazing chicks in town are on the sand every good summer sunny day. Surf is great, chicks are amazing and the view of the moutain behind the beach makes it a wonderful wallpaper.
It's a crowded spot, respect to be respected. The people in brazil are friendly and educated. A Pro or a beginer can surf there !!! Come and enjoy with us !!!
It's my favorite spot in the city. Makes life in Rio greater than it already is.
If you people want to view some videos at Prainha, go to:
This is the main Brazilian Championship, called SuperSurf. The final stage was here.
It's a paradise spot. It's a small beach with a virgin forest around. There's the Prainha municipal park. The first and unique beach park in Rio. Good parking, bathrooms, stores, snack bars. You can find all you need there!!!

Prainha incredible - Prainha is the most consistent, rideble and everybody's first choice surf spot of Rio, period. Ask anybody who lives and surfs every day here. Fantastic place,is a regular basis local training of lots of professional surfers, including WCT athletes and very good free surfes also, you're always going to surf here, if there are not waves anywhere else. Basically, there's 3 spots. left corner, "meio" and right corner which breaks more often. Beautiful girls, and a crowded line up is common, even in a monday. Please, if you come, respect to be respected,'cos the level here is high. Peace!

Prainha good not great... - Prainha is a good beach break not great.. however it is extremely crowded.. do not go to brazil just for it... there are many other places closer to the city... with equally good waves or more beautiful girls... the girls are worth the trip.. not the surf...
