Headhigh says : Sandbars all along the island. Most break well at low tide and depending on swell size, some good shorebreak spots on the incoming high tide.
Overview
Atmosphere
Headhigh says : The crowds are mainly at the piers plus a few localized sandbars. Waves work best just prior to approaching frontal systems. Usually have hard onshores for 1-2 plus days before front and a few hours to a couple of days of glassy waves after front passes offshore. Hurricane swell usually arrives 3-5 days before the storm and can last up to a week plus.
General
Headhigh says : Overall, its not as good as Wrightsville and doesn't compare to Hatteras, but with a little wind or swell, some fun times can be had.
dont expect to get waves
the waves may suck, but the locals are way better than you (and anywhere in NC for that matter). show respect and expect to get sprayed
