Surfing for visitors to Guysborough County - We own the DesBarres Manor Inn in Guysborough and are always looking new activities for our guests. Is this area easy to access for our guests? Can they rent boards locally? Any direction you could provide on this would be helpul. We never saw Guysborough County as a surf destination, but where there's waves ...

To EastsidA - Yeah, Justin Avery (aka Juicey or Juice), the guy that died was my brother-in-law. He was a cool kid and I introduced him to sailing, backpacking, rock climbing, and boogie boarding. He bought a nice Hobie sponge and was starting to get really stoked. I was going to get him into stand up surfing but he was hit by a car and killed on New Years 2004. The juice was his favourite spot and is named after him. There are a couple of good spots down there. Not as good as Halifax but fun just the same. There is one point that has a long left about 1/4 mile from the juice that I think is outstanding on a good day. If you go down you just have to explore. It's like a throw-back surfari thing from another era. And if you windsurf, well there's hardly a day that goes by that isn't honking somewhere. Good luck and have fun!

EastsidA - I wouldnt miund the drive up there because I windsurf as well so if there arent any waves I can find a good sailing spot!!! Did someone die who used to surf here? The first message sounds as if the guy is talking to a deceased.

Is this the a frame? - I surfed this spot years ago like 98, so maybe not yearrs ago but you know. super fun little A frame. I was on my way up to a spot further up the shore. i think this is the same spot, maybe not.

Map Quest - It's one hell of a long drive! You can get more specific directions on map quest or if you get a provincial map. There's another spot that is bigger, better and far scarier than the juice but I haven't listed it yet. It's called Minefields. When it is big this place will give you long, long rides but... wipe out here and you are going to be french kissing insane boulders. They boil, they pop out, you can make it around them if you get a good line. It really adds to the adrenalin rush. Ask a local how to get to the wharf and when you get to the top of the hill you will see a big bay with boulders everywhere and a wave that lasts for a couple hundred yards. It's a neat place and you are guaranteed to be alone but the waves around Hali are far nicer and it would suck to drive for 4 hrs to get skunked. Good luck - Chris

Hey bro! - So proud of the fact a wave break carries your name. I know you are doing a different kind of surfing now but sure you are with Chris and Evan as they are riding the waves. This spot is truly magic and so were you!

Juicey! - Twenty today and you don't look a day over eighteen. Evan, Haydn, Nicole, and I miss you tons brother. I hope the surf is great where you are and that you are jamming with Jimi H, Stevie R-V, and Wes M. Look to the Duke and Mark Foo, they'll teach you how to rip on the otherside. I will be hitting the Juice at Christmas and I know you will be in the line-up with me, charg'in. For all the great memories - Mahalo Bra!

It was empty.... - You never saw any other surfers there before because the directions weren't on a site like this for them to read. Quit making unknown spots like this public! That being said please post pics please :D
