Bantham Access
From Kingsbridge near Dartmouth head for Plymouth, Bantham
is well sign posted. Large car park on beach with
toilets. Small shop on way to beach and good pub
but small, best to take everything you need with you.
Fine sand, life guards in season. Well worth a visit
just for the scenery.

Additional Surfing Infos
Well lets start with the problem of the very strong rip caused by the river Avon.
To avoid this head for the rocks to the left of the beach and use the rip to help
you get out to the line up with almost no effort, and don't worry it won't tow you out
to sea it eases off as you get closer to the line up.
  Overview
Atmosphere Never had any localism problems surfin here because the
population of Bantham is about 30, and most of them
are elderly. But a lot of people do visit regularly
from neighbouring towns. And wathch out for the incresing numbers
of longboarders (no offence)
General For me it's the nearest surf spot, and it did take
me a while to get use to the rip but there's always
someone else out there so if u get into trouble just screem.

Was a good session in the river mouth. 2-3foot some closed out but others really clean and hollow. Bit of a shore dump though so getting back out was a bit awkward sometimes. Nice steep takeoffs but wind was too strong.

to the person below
bantham isnt really that consistant but occasionally there will be a nice swell. probably at least once a month there will be a good day. and there is always croyde and woolacomb just half hour up he road which gets a swell quite a bit. but take a look around for some nice spots. a lot of the place still has a lotta places unridden most of the time

A truly ruined spot
I've never enjoyed surfing here. Too many selfish people (usually longboarders as mentioned previously) and only one peak. Seems to be a place where dickheads rule the roost. Fine, as long as they all stay here so I can go and enjoy some quiet waves elsewhere.
