San Juan
I camped on the beach overlooking San Juan about ten years ago for two weeks. The swell was maxing out at 7 to 9ft the whole time and the right was insane. Take off and drop into a gaping barrel and get out quickly before or be mangled on the shallow reef. Yeah, got my heel spiked by Uncle Urchin too. Can't wait to go again in March 2007.....Bueno Olas

good waves get up early
I've been to Lanzarote in early Dezember 2005. Unfortunately i hurt my ankle really bad one night before the flight. I could barely walk, so the surfing wasn't as good as it could have been. But still just paddeling out there and see the Locals going off was pretty cool. This place catches lots of swell and the lower the tide the bigger the barrels. But getting out at Low Tide is killer. Stepped on an urchin with my hurt foot....isn't life a bitch sometimes. the wave has actually a very short righthander. But the right is more like a take of and one maneuver then it's just mushy and over. But the left can be a quite long ride if the conditions are good. Locals act tough. I wasn't charging the peak and still they were blocking waves on their way paddeling back to the lineup. So get up really early and i mean really early. I've been there when it was even to dark to see anything and there was allready a car next to us with 4 guys ready to go when the first sunlights make their way over the mountaintops. Lanzarote is really beautyfull. locals should relax as long as noone provoked them
