A few years ago - A few years ago there was very basic huts on the beach and you had to take all your food and water, no village on nyang nyang, but now the area has upgraded, there is now two surf camps on the island pit stop hill(pitstops) and mentawai bungalow (e-bay)(both have websites)

Staying on land? - I've heard you can stay on land for Rp50,000 with a local right at pitstops does anyone know about this or any info about staying on land with the locals in the mentawai's??

Fun wave - Just got back from the Mentawais in the First two weeks in June 2007. We stopped here and got some small but fun waves. I got to use my Fish at this spot and had blast. I would never have spotted this place from our boat if our guide didn't know about this.
