Drive from Kuta along the west coast. road . After about 1 hour you see a broken surfboard at the left side of the road with balian on it. Follow the road for about 5 minutes and park next to the wahrung at the top of the cliff.
Balian's lefts are usually longer and better shaped than its right. Nice spot, not crowed but u must go in the early morning cause usually at 11:00 am comes onshore winds This is a typical beatiful indo break. Long very long left and righthanders. When you enter the water you will be taken by the current to the right . Do not try to master the current because you simply will not succeed. instead just paddle out . after about 50 meters offshore paddle to the left. It's a very long paddle to the peak but at the same time you get very very long rides.
Not uncrowded anymore
I was there 2 years ago and I can tell you for sure that this spot is now crowded. Every morning, there was at least 20 people out with the average being about 25. Oh well... I guess that's the way it goes. But it's a really nice little village with super cool people.

Garden of Eden
This place is an absolute garden of Eden. I'm not a surfer, but we stayed at Kubu Balian for around $40AUD. We ate at a little cafe Ayu's down by the beach. Good food. Great place to get away from the rat race of Kuta. Go see my mate Sudi at Kubu Balian. Sure to get a laugh. Their hospitality is second to none. They can't do enough for you.

Been there two weeks ago, great place
To all surfers that cruise Bali, I think if you want to ride a nice wave, not too hard to take and not too scary. This is the place, and when Legian and Kuta are flat, there is a good chance of this spot working, but be there at sunrise... Anyway, amazing place, for an amazing island full of great peoples...
