Those reef breaks are GOOOOOD - I got the opportunity to surf those reef breaks during most of the summer. They require a low tide, and since they break on the reef, it was virtually empty when the rest of the beach was overcrowded. Very powerful, fast wave with about a foot of water before you hit the coral. However, it requires a lot of swell to get big.
I also surfed the beach break when not crowded and had a lot of fun: at high tide, you face a fun shore break and at rising tide, the wave seems to follow a crooked path which makes it an ideal platform for aerial moves.
Not much to surf at low tide.

Dahomey really works.... - Check pictures 6 and 7 and you'll see. It was on summer 2003. It's a reef break, with no more than 1/2 feet beetween you and the rocks! Crazy and really fast wave, works 20 - 30 minutes when the tide goes down.
