Cabo Ledo Access |
| |
Drive a total of 125 km south of Luanda, crossing the bridge at the Barra de Kwanza (a military checkpoint and entrance to the national park of Quicama).
At km 125 the road climbs a first rise and offers a superb view of the beach at Cabo Ledo down the valley. Continue to the top of the rise and turn right onto a small track which follows the ridge towards a quarry and the old lighthouse. Descend right past the quarry and follow the track down (4x4) to the beach. |

Additional Surfing Infos |
| | Park at the base of the hillside, avoiding any muddy areas as this backbeach mud has trapped more than one 4x4.
The surfing depends on the tide and the swell, in big swell the waves hold big faces way out beyond the last rock - but getting out is a problem due to what can be very strong currents running down the point (especially on a flowing tide). In smaller swell, the waves work best on a low tide, forming steeper sections in the middle to inside areas.

Overview |
| |
Atmosphere |
On small to mid-size swell this is a perfect wave to have fun on, being very long and slow. Bring a longboard. On bigger days the outside has a lot of power. |
| |
General |
A really great wave, rarely surfed due to the hassel of the drive (multiple army check points etc) and the relative danger - a main commando training camp is nearby - people have been killed on this beach - so be careful, go in a convoy and don't stay overnight! |

Just me and Paul out all afternoon, the session was mostly small,
but the set waves gave good rides with OK take-offs, then mushy middle
sections and long rolling walls (OK only waist high)

Trip: Return to Angola
By Pisco23, From 2006-10-20 to 2006-10-21
Six years, almost to the day of leaving Angola - after 4 years
living in this wild and dangerous place - I was back. Back
for work, but I surprised my colleagues by waiting at 4am in the
luggage hall, not for suitcases (we were only suppose
