- Tubarões
English (Traduzir este texto em Português): An incredible, wrapping, horseshoeing, power packed, free fall drop into a spitting tube. The power of the wave can be seen from the side as it explodes in about four to six feet of water - enough to shield you from being crunched too badly....the paddle puts most people off (and the local grey nurse sharks). Take a 7ft pintail at least. Needs to be oil slick clean as well or you bounce off the ledges.....
Ambiente
English (Traduzir este texto em Português): Surf it at least once to remind yourself why you surf. If you have a boat you will score beautiful waves in relative safety, win the admiration of the frustated pack at 13th and see the entire stretch of 13th Beach at once...
Geral
English (Traduzir este texto em Português): Scary, beautiful, largely unsurfed and absolutely world class.

Mako a go go - Just remember...best mako fishing on the whole coast is 1km straight out from the heads.this break is almost 1km out.dont surf with snapper fillets tied to your legs.

Could be better.... - Went out to the beacon bommie for the first time on the weekend after reading about it here. Sat was wicked 6-8ft swell and after a very long paddle out I was not that highly impressed. I think the swell was too big for the reef, but the wave quality was pretty low when compared to what was some awesome sand bank breaks on 13th beach. It definitely gets the swell here though and a couple of guys doing tow ins were having some good fun, trying to paddle onto the shifting breaks was pretty hairy out there! I'd say overall that it's not worth the paddle when there's so many other great breaks around (bird rock was going off that day and I got some awesome waves!)

Courtney - The sharks are real. I surfed it at easter 1989 with my mate Ronnie. 6-8 ft perfect.. Glassy... beacon full of pros (Kong etc) .We're out there on our own, going how good is this.. Then! a school of dolphins start swimming with us..! does it get any better!!!!
No..... because... In-between the school of dolphins was a impostor... I said to Ronnie " mate that isn't a dolphin" he's like "na that is a shark!" its fin was about 21/2 out of the water. I remember the base it was about 4" thick and it was a big fucker!
I caught the next bit of wash and walked on water back to beacon.. Ronnie wasn't so lucky and had to wear a set. When he got back in, he tells me the shark swam right underneath him and was the size of a 44 gallon drum!!
It was either a big mako or a juvenile white.
Anyway it wasn't hungry and all was cool.
But they're out there, make no mistake.
I havent seen one since but it took a few years before the hebejebies wore off.
Great wave, lots of power.
