Additional Information
in big waves paddle out close to the jetty. One of the best waves in the state. Holds big size. Timing paddle outs and reading the rips are essentials.
Find some lefts south of the jetty. This is predominantly a big wave spot but will also break with minimal swell during low tide. During the offseason you can park your car right up next to the spot on the beach. Access is not a problem. Can hold up to double-overhead on the right swell under the right conditions. South--Southeast swells are the best times to surf it. Waves can/will reform on the inside section. Predominantly a righthand wave on south and southeast swells off the jetty; with some lefts occuring on more easterly-northeasterly swells.

Atmosphere
Was hesitant to put this one up but it seems like everybody surfs it anyway so what the heck? When it's good, your gonna deal with crowds, especially numerous longboarders on the outside who only show up when it's going off...can be a drop-in-fest. Typically better offseason with stonger swells and colder conditions to filter out the less-committed, summertime bennys! Honestly this spot hasn't broken classically as it once did back in '95-'96, when south hurricane swells came in on a weekly basis. However once in a while it will get quite good, but be prepared to deal with the "party-wave", clueless mentality that unfortuantely presents itself here on frequent occasions. Still, it's a mellow atmosphere for the most part, and if you yell loud enough, just maybe the guy in front of you will get off your wave.

General
Has seen better days, but still a great wave when the conditions are right. One of the better big wave spots around as most locals know.

this break...... - i have ridden this break and there is no problems at all. all u have to do is drop in on the corny surfers, made the barrel, bust some moves (air, rolls, spins) and then u can get some respect. if u arent experienced, dont go here
