WAY OVERRATED - Threes is such a far paddle out and so insanely crowded with every single type of kook that you can imagine that i wouldn't recommend this spot to my WORST enemy. Shortboarder? HA HA HA You're wasting your time. HEY! It's 1-3'. Say 'Hi' to 40 of your closest friends....

paddle out - Howzit guys/gals...haven't surfed 3's since the 80's. I'm trying to remember how long the paddle out was...from the end off the cement out in front of the Reef Hotel...I think it was about 15-20 minutes to the outside...Mahalo in advance.

South Shore Perfection - In mid October of 2006, I scored this place sooo good. I went out BIG in Honolulu the night before, and was still REALLY feeling it during the long paddle out to Three's. The sets were stacked to the horizon as the offshores howled out of the valleys and through the high rises, grooming a large south swell into perfect grinding cylinders that would funnel all the way down to the inside reef. It was crowded, but was double overhead plus on the sets, so the idiots were getting some great beat downs, which added to the fun too. I had some of the best waves of my life that day, and some of the deepest tubes too. Even with the vicious hangover, a crowd of kooks and the local crew scrapping for the set waves, it was my best Town session ever and a day I will never forget.
