There's a good car park where all the beachgoers park. Easy takeoff, nice short and punchy walls with the occasional tubes. If you're willing to explore there are some very good reefs around the corner with NOBODY surfing.
Atmosphere
Mellow.
General
Good weekend break - provided there's swell. swell is rare and erratic though so be prepared to wait loong between sets and dont be surprised to find the sea absolutely flat most days.

Wicked fun! - We have a beach house at Arniston and this is where I learned to surf. For any beginners, surf buddys(maybe pros but no kammakazis) or old timers, this is where you can have a lot of fun. There are some wicked waves to be taken here on a good day.Just watch out if it's a windy day or when it is the day of X-mas,then it gets really crowded. When this happens you can go and look for your own little surf heaven on the many other deserted beaches in the area!

reefbreak - bodyboarded at a tiny left reef on roman beach with friend. 2-3 ft max, clean barrels breaking over almost dry reef. so much potential. we never surfed it again but will be back for more.

Gauntlet - Kids Beach (front of Arniston Hotel). paddle out in low tide to the gap between the furthest 2 protruding reefs. not for beginners - shallow reef and nice barrels on a good day. been surfing this for ever and never seen others out there. best surf spot in Arniston. Called the Gauntlet for a reason. Home of the Stewarts.
