So called localism
It amazes me how angry most of the local ''surfers'' are here I just dont get it... I to enjoy surfing, I live in a small surf town, I work at the local surf shop and have see our areas here go from maybe 5 surfers in the line up to 30 surfers. There is a difference between us though, You spend most of your time complaining with both of your hands held out and open... And what I mean by this, is Im sure some of you have now started up surf shops, surf schools, Bars, Guiding companies, Hotels, Your renting out your house to tourist...... All of these things provide you with money to live, to feed yourselves.....But then you tell people not to come, Not to bother surfing in your areas.... and what your really saying is, Dont by wax or a board from mine or my buddies shop, Dont come and explore our beautiful area while paying me to show you around, Dont stay at my mothers hotel and please dont come here and support our economy because we dont like to be able to earn a income so we can provide for ourselves or our families. I dont think most of you who are complaining actually remember what it was like before tourism came to your area....what it was like not to have money to buy food, To have to fish and harvest your own food so complaining is easy for you....But think about it for a sec, could you do that? would you like to spend your day fishing and doing manual labour because you have to instead of surfing? I see this happen is so many places and it really upsets me because you dont see the big picture! Absolutely childish!! Anyway I didnt come on here to point fingers so I wont, but think about when you travel after a season of making money off the tourist you treat like crap and hassle when they get there, Do you want the same treatment when you come to my home break? Its a small world what if you you paddle out one day and some guy you gave shit to is out with his crew? I would hope he does not give you the treatment you give out. you get the point Im trying to make? Im coming to your area this winter, I hope to make some good friends and surf some good waves, I will respect your areas and I hope in return you respect me... if I saw you in my break I would smile and welcome you to my home. Stoked that you were supporting our locals and helping our area grow so that my friends have jobs! Life passes by to fast......Dont spend most of it in a bad mood.

See you in the water.

sosua
been there a few times now, all three times there was decent surf, tough to get out there though, 15 min paddle. Locals can be difficult to get along with so be respectful of them and you should be fine. lots of sharp rocks and coral, so STAY ON YOUR BOARD!this is a real spot, i could also see what the "snorkel guy" was talking about, sosua is a huge bay with awesome views, the surf spot is very small but effective, maybe you didn't see it???? it is very consistent.

yeah right!!!!
I was in caberete 2 years ago surfing encuentro. I went to sosua one time, and the only thing you'll find on that beach is a bunch of locals hasseling you to by their trinkets. that reef is calm, glass. I suppose the guy who left feedback on this one thought he was on WANNASNORKEL.com. It would be great if you like to snorkel! Not surf. Whoever is posting these bogus surf spots needs to stop.
