Hard to get in, but that is the magic of it. You can paddle around thru Marijuana's and come around Hawaii Five O's or you can come out thru the bay and paddle east (but do so with caution and deep only). You can park in the lot and impress the tourists with camera's. It is hidden in plain sight.
Atmosphere
It is a great spot overall. My personal favorite when the NS is firing in the medium to large range. If the bay is working, so is Uppers. You just have to watch it carefully to ensure it isn't a solid curtain close out, and that you have an escape plan.
General
The wave to the right is epic for a longboard when it is working. Works up to about double overhead and rarely crowded. A couple of airline pilots, an artist with a van, and some military guys like me are about the just of the crowd. When I bring guys to Oahu to surf, this is the place I shoot for. The lack of crowd makes up for the lack luster as compared to Lanis, Chuns Reef, or Sunset.

Sgt. Mclay & JC's spot! hahaha - This was the very first wave i ever surfed on the north shore... Talk about throwing me to the wolves... The wave itself is pretty mellow but jesus it's a nightmare getting out... especially when a clean up set rolled through and your the last one out, and it's so dark you can't see where your friends got out at... Sketchy as hell... the paddle in was easy... our friend red has a beautiful house just to the north... we just jumped off the rocks, paddled a ways and that's it... Little did i know that to get in you basically have to be washed up on to slippery, sharp rocks... Worst combination... Glad my girlfriend desided to model for the sunset instead of paddle out... she'd've been pissed! It is a very fun wave though, mostly because no one surfs it...
