strong current (rip?, stroming) is possible, but worth the effort - The rip was strong and annoying, but the waves were strong, off course when I could get a hold of them. People were friendly to a beginner like me, trying to struggle my way through the breaking waves and getting in their way. It's easy to park (near Hotel laurentius if I remember correctly) and on the edge of town (the side near Nieuwpoort).
