 Access

From Puerto Vallarta, drive north about 40 miles, follow signs, just south of Sayulita.
Since the Four Seasons was built the easiest way to access the spot called Punta de Mita is by panga. Goto Mictlan Surf and talk to Tzahui Poo.

It may also be possible to walk the beach from the town of Punta de Mita.

 Additional Information

This can be a great wave,a perfect right point that can tube. I've never had it bad, and only a couple of cool people in the water, the rides can be super long and perfect on a good swell. Watch the coral at lower tides!

the main 3 breaks in Punta Mita - There are 3 mean breaks in Punta Mita behind the gate. All 3 breaks are better on a bit of a higher tide because they are all rocky. When it is smaller you can surf on the lower tide.
Curvas is in front of the saint Regis. Fun wave generally the smallest of the 3 breaks year round better on a higher.
Bahia in front of the 17th hole on the Bahia golf course. this is my personal favorite. Great fun right with a short left on smaller days. They describing calling this Punta Mita.
El Faro is next. Epic right hander in big northwest swells. Rocky.
All these waves break year round. general trend is light to no winds morning. Onshores in the afternoon.

low key get away - Just spent 9 days in Punta de Mita, great little low key town, several beaches to surf at. Stayed at Villas Las Olas, great place, large suites, reasonable prices and super hospitable owners. Got the best recipe ever for tortilla soup!
