We discovered this spot while exploring up and down the coast - Barre de Tordo - Closest Mexican town is Aldama, Tamp. This is the next rivermouth / access south (after La Pesca) to the Laguna Madre. It is approx 150 miles south and the east from La Pesca through Soto De La Marina and Aldama then East. This is a very pristine spot with great water flow in and out of the lagoon - tremendous seafood, There are 2 spots; 1) the Rivermouth is a right hander into the Channel - it breaks very close to the shoreline. 2) down the beach south about 100 yards is a great sandbar peak that offers both rights and lefts.

Additional Information
Several words of caution; there used to be 2 jetties here but they have been swallowed - there could be large jetty rocks lying around under the surface. There is also a sunken trawler between the 2 spots - just under the surface. This part of Mexico is under very heavy security - be certain that your papers are in order (you will encounter roadblocks and potential searches from the Mexican Army). This area is full of fishcamps old-style ranches and farms. It is semi-tropical with Palms and Mangroves. Heavy mosquitos and sand fleas - bring bug spray. There are accomendations right next to the beach and in the village close to the rivermouth. No restaurants that we know of. You can get the locals to cook for you if you ask around. There are all the supplies you need in Aldama and a couple of small grocery type stores in the village. Cell phone coverage follows the main hi-way and will fade once you turn East for the run to the coast. This section of the Mexican Coast will work on the same swells that work in S.Padre Island, Tx. Swift Longitudinal currents run up and down the entire coast due to troughs between the 4-5 sets of sandbars - anticipate drifting quickly.

Atmosphere
This is a place you can have all to yourself. It requires a knowledge of Gulf Coast weather conditions and what makes the Gulf work. Swells that work in South padre will work here as well and the summer/fall hurricane season can provide the thrill of your life.

General
The locals are very cool. Do not do anything you wouldn't do at your house and you will be welcome. There are without a doubt additional spots that are wqithin reach - you just need the time to look around
