Curtimos imenso as festas no Funchal, etc. Search!

For those who are planning a trip to Madeira. - Hello, my name´s Pedro, I´m 24 years old and my local spot is Praia Nova, Costa da Caparica - PortugalI spent two weeks in Madeira last December together with three friends, I must say I caught some of the best waves in my life and had a great time, except the day I surfed at Fajã da Areia (a.k.a. - Galinhas,by all mags)unfortunally I accidently dropped-in a local boy,who I thought was going left so continued on the wave... imediately other locals started calling me names and threatenning. As I was paddling back to the peak, a local guy that looked more like a gorilla than anything else, told me to get out of the water and go surf somewhere else... i told him i was sorry and tried to explain what happened, but he kept on sending me out,so i said OK and i kept on cathing some waves only in the inside.Half an hour later two of my friends had gone out, suddenly i saw them waving their arms and shouting at us... as i got out of the water they told us that our four tires were flat. While we were looking at the car trying to figure out what to do, the boy that i had dropped-in and his elder brother(according to what we were told later)came running towards us with sticks in their hands, we started throwing our suits and boards in to the car as quickly as we could and at the same time dodging the boys who were hitting us with the sticks. We maneged to get in the car and drive away as i saw other guys coming our direction to help the small boys.We didn´t get badly hurt, just some scratches, but it definetely wasn´t a nice situation to go through...When surfing on the north shore, check out Galinhas first but if there is already somebody out, don´t even think about it, it´s better to go find other waves that are normally empty, like Faial or Porto da Cruz. Those who have surfed in Madeira already, certainly noticed that there is a very small but tight surf community, who should better be respected or you might not have the same luck as I had.Take care,P.S. Go there only from December to March - doesn´t work with small or medium swells.
Big wave Riders Paradise - Madeira's probably one of the best big wave spots in the entire world. Jardim do Mar(ponta do Jardim), Paul do Mar and Ponta Pequena probably the best spots.... unfortunaly the spot is about to be destroyd by the local governament... we tryed to stop it but... so i would advise those big wave riders to go there this winter cause it maybe the last....
