It's a bit of real adventure out there... expect much of locals courtesy (Shadi city) to take you in their cars and welcome you in their homes at night.
The beach is nearly 7 kilometers long, East exposed, with some rock points here and then. Sandbars will built close to the points and EXPECT STRONG CURRENTS after a flat period.
In case of big South swell (winter, typhoons far toward Vietnam) this beach can be used as a surf shelter.
You will discover the China medias don't talk about, so open your eyes and be curious. Local people will love you simply by being there.
Local surfers ?... come on, seriously...

Really surf in Shangchuan Dao? - Hey all, I'm a SoCal transplant living in Macau and am dying to hit the surf. Any recommendations, hints, thoughts on Shangchuan Dao? I'll be heading there regardless since it's so close, and will definitely post if I learn anything useful.
