Team building is one of the preliminary steps in enhancing team collaboration in any organization. The paper presents a team building plan that is based on the principles of team building. The essay will also identify the potential challenges that may be faced while creating an efficient onboarding team for THS. Besides, this article will analyze the techniques that will be used to identify, negotiate, and resolve conflicts within the healthcare organization. The aim of this paper is to provide a clear and concise plan for team building and team management in THS which will be used to facilitate the organization’s cultural change.

Team Building Plan

Team building in THS will follow the phases of Team STEPPS. In the assessment phase, the organizational leaders together with the chosen members of the onboarding team will assess the strategic position of the organization and decide on the common goal to set. In the second phase, the onboarding team will be directed into developing an action plan for dealing with the issue at hand. The last phase of this team building process will pay more focus on sustaining the team through monitoring its activities and coaching the team members. The team building process will be guided by the principles of this activity such as defining the team’s objective, putting into account all the team members’ opinions, and rewarding the team members for exemplary performance.

Potential Challenges in the Process of Creating an Onboarding Team

Several problems may occur in the course of creating an effective onboarding team for THS. One of the potential challenges is the lack of cooperation among the team members due to conflicting opinions. Interpersonal arguments arising from work related issues may also affect the effectiveness of the team. Furthermore, lack of effective communication among the team members may also strain the team building process.

Techniques Used to Identify, Negotiate, and Resolve Conflicts

Different approaches can be utilized to determine conflicts among team members. One way is through communicating regularly with team members whereby in the process one can identify possible strained relationships. Besides, through keen observation, a leader can identify strained interpersonal relationships among the team members based on the way they relate to each other. Thus, negotiation is the best conflict resolution technique to be used for the team. Through negotiation, the involved parties discuss the issue of conflict with the aim of finding a win-win solution which develops and maintains mutual trust among the conflicting parties.

Engagement Plan

Various strategies will be put in place to ensure the engagement of the onboarding team members. The first approach involves the members in active discussions on how to enhance the performance of the team. This will increase the interaction among the team members; therefore, it will strengthen the team's cohesion. Another major strategy that can be applied is encouraging team members to participate in major decision-making processes. This will make them feel recognized which is a pivotal motivational factor.
