Drive the coastal road west from Puerta La Cruz to Jose'. Pass the industrial corridor and turn into the town of Jose'. Drive to the jetty and out onto the end of the rock groin all the way west until it reaches the river. |

| | This break is surfed by the local crowd from Puerta La Cruz. If there, ask for Raul at the Floss Surf shop. Tell him Joe Frick sent you.
It breaks left in a small peak that is the most popular and nobody surfs the main break into the river which is the right. Long walls with nice sections all the way across the river. Long paddle back, but very nice.

Atmosphere |
Venezuelans are very nice and the women are some of the most beautiful in the world. They are, however, completely without a clue in terms of wave etiquette and courtesy. It is not deliberate, just a cultural thing. You won't find competition of the right as they prefer short explosive moves to long drawn out rides and making the wave. I lived here for 4 years and cought it good only about a dozen times. But I remember each time like it was yesterday. |
