Any spongers gonna be in Cetral Peru Sept 17-Sept 28?
Hey there, im a bodyboarder. Im gonna be in Peru visiting family in late sept(17-28). I will be in Haucho staying with family. Wondering if anybody would like to tag along and hit up some beaches. Better to have someone there than no one.

Powerfull Peru!
The little south of lima pumps incredible i,ve surfed:la isla-wiako-punta rokas-Herradura-Señoritas-pulpos-San pedro-Cerro azul... and much more and i can say its good man!It was a little trip anyway i did it with a surfguide.email me if you need answers-peace out.

Bodyboarders in or Travelling to Peru/Chile
Hey,

Due to the eruption of the pig flu i have had to leave Mexico early but have just found a cheap flight to Peru and heard of awesome hollow and heavy waves for the boog there and especially in Chile so am pretty amped for that. Just wondering if there is anyone who is going to or lives in Peru or Chile and would be keen to hit up some spots. I am going to get to Lima on 1 May 2009 and probably be around the area for 2 or three months. Or if not, does anyone know of good places to boog there and will I need a car to access the majority of spots or will I be able to get away with public transport. Contact me at john.folder@gmail.com

Just got back from 2 weeks in Peru. If you like to do 20 cutbacks in a row you'll be in heaven. Surfed Penescal, Punta Rocas, Senoritas, Chicama, Pacasmayo. All long waves, but with the exception of Penescal which was 8-10ft and at least grinding on the take off, the waves are really mediocre. Want tubes..go to Indo......

Agree with the mate about Peru is the unsafest country in the world. That´s for sure!!! I stayed there 30 days and get robbed twice!!! And i´m from Brazil...i should be aware of that...unfortunately there´s nothing to do when you have a gun pointed to you. Waves are great, maybe it gets better in future.

LIMA Taxi theft
When you land at Lima Int you need to know that even the Taxi drivers who wear ties and smart clothes are theives . Take the official taxi which can be hired from WITHIN the airport for 45Sol or 15USD. Its Safe.
As soon as you exit the airport door there are a bunch of drivers offering 30Sol fairs . This is a trick.If your driver opens the front door -DO not get in .Sit in the back as his mate who is the "co-driver" will get in the back at some stage. Dont try be all liberal and nice ... this is the land of thieves and deception .While you are distracted he will pickpocket you and go through your bags .
I have traveled to 25 countries for extensive periods and this is robber central.
If you do take a nonofficial taxi , negotiate the exact rate in Sols first ie the total cost , try to make them write it down . IN SOLS not USD!!
NEVER let the driver stop or get out -if he does jump in the front and drive as this is most certainly a precursor for a robbery .
This happend to me in the first hour of being in Peru .
Tired after a long two continent flight coming in at 11pm they know that your patience and jugemnet are limited and so at this time for sure there are scams operating all the time .
I hope the surf is worth it.
