Love for Cerro Azul - Anybody that has been to cerro azul on an OK day and has caught a wave has got to frikin love this place. Cerro Azul is a place beyond compare, nobody can doubt that, great surf, great people, great food, only missing great girls. I went to Cerro Azul six months ago and im going back six months from now, if anybody is planning a surf trip through South America, Cerro Azul should definetely be a stop, also think about punta rocas and chicama(longest wave in the world)

QUE BUENAS OLAS ! ! ! PUT A MAd RE ! ! ! - Good all year long , excellent sometimes... ask locals for "las derechas" (right side of the peer) and "la fabrica" (5 min. walk from the peer). JAH Lives Here!

Too easy - Caught a day at CA in early 2003, a sw swell was kickin all over Punta Hermosa.. around 8'. After a 45 min. drive pulled into the town...amazing spot! practcally walke into the lineup...the beach is protected by a rock shaped like a bird, hence the name. Sat at the lineup and surfed very very long lefts, with two other guys in the water. After about 8 waves, decided to paddle under the pier and surf the right that was breaking on the other side...GANGBUSTERS!!! Fast and tubular long powerful wave..The only downside is that the waves there are smaller than the rest of the coast...but there is something there for everyone...lefts, rights, barrells, walls, the works!! Wait for a big day to go there.

re.: about pastelillos - thanks a lot for the tip, yeah the lemon neutralizes the venom. haven't tried the exhaust thing but I'm assuming it's probably the carbon dioxide that enters the blood and turns into carbonic acid, raising the level of acidity and neutralizing the venom.

onshore - onshore almost all the time, not really strong, but just too much. Sunup and sundown are usually better. I remember surfing Cerro Azul as it turned to night and the chop turned to the colour and texture of guiness... ummm...

about pastelillos - pastelillos are a kind of stingray, although much smaller (about 20-25cm) they have a poisonous sort of bone at the end of their tail. in order to prevent being hit by one you must walk without lifting your feet, you just push them and that will scare the pastelillos so that they will swim away. but if you step on the they will attack you. be carefull. in case you are attacked by one an intelligent thing to do is flush the wound with a lot of water and add lemon to the wound as the poison is alkaline. also a good friend of mine who surfs organos(which is infested with pastelillos) recommends to have a chata de ron to forget the pain and put your feet in the exhaust of a car while someaone accelerates(in neutral by the way) as he says the smoke will reduce the pain.
