That's because 95% of the time they are as in all of ecuador. IF you don't mind surfing with a steady 10-20knot onshore wind, go for it. Maybe kite boarding is the key here...I live in Ecuador, so I know.

Best in playas
Fucking amazing with a good southwest swell... a little barrel, quick , powerfull ... definitely amazing.... just beware of the rocks jejejeje...

no sharks in playas ......
you dont need to go to any other place to surf playas you can find a lots waves in 1 town el peladdo posada shark bay mal paso and more enjoy.....

Updated facts on Pelado
The land/beach area access to point is now free to get in. Just head for the road to "Engabao" as old directions. Take left on split. Go for max 5. You will end right there on beach end of road. Rock Point to your left.
Needs quite big swell- over 6 feet. LOW TIDE only. HIGH (either way you want to mean) very dangerous...rock very close. Also LOW TIDE.
Lot s of current and riptide when Tide coming in. BEst medium tide going low. Big swell. May-June months but breaks all south swell season-May-Nov. Not so consistent as Sharkbay since needs big swell.
TIP: When Playas beach/spots are windy onshore, "Pelado" is nice conditionswise. When "Pelado" is onshore and funky go to the "PLayas" spots: Sharkbay. Las Cuevas, Posada, etc..
