Lots of breaks to surf and plenty more to be discovered! The best season is the dry season from Dic-March and during the hurricane season(wet season) from July- Sept when a lot of low pressure systems form right off the coast. During
the dry season is more consistent and in the wet season conditions are better. Very uncrowded area and surfer are very friendly and respectful except for the occasional "garuya" that drops in your way. The swells don't get too big. They barely pass the 8' range on the biggest days but and occassional bigger "Mar de leva" is not out of the question. On average you will find chest to a couple feet overhead surf. But like I said it is very consistent and powerful. During "El NIņo" and "La Niņa" years we had a very active season and the waves seemed to never end. But the last couple of years is been quiet than average.
Dominant Swell and Wind Direction : Most of the swell we get comes from the N and NE direction. But if we get any from the NW or W direction means big swell and good conditions somehow.

Board hire on the Coast
If you're in the Barranquilla area, good luck. I think the hotel/bar at El Bolsillo has 1 (one) board for rent, but it's just a beat-to-hell old Bic. There is one "surf shop" in BAQ, which has only one or two boards, and I don't think they rent those out.In Cartagena there is a new surf shop, but I'm afraid I don't know what they're carrying, though i have a feeling it's just apparel and the like.Good luck!
