This is the best spot in Algarrobo. On big swells, the wave starts breaking on an offshore reef called Detroit that can hold size and then connects all the way to el mejoral.

I go a lot to algarrobo and ever run in mejoral. I can say that is the best place for do surf or body in algarrobo. I sow a big waves (detroit,when it is big it has more than 5 mt)and, sometimes, a good toobs. Is a good place for the body! only have caution with teh rocks if you don`t do it good

used to go to algarrobo alot when i lived in santiago. one time the waves got big and started breaking WAAAY out in the rocks, i think this is that same spot. we paddled out, paddle out was waaaaaay long, didnt catch anything cause it was a bit to scary for me but alot of guys were doin it fine, nice locals too. there is also a little rock bay that seemed to break all the time, just take a trail left of algarrobo and its right there, theres usually people out surfing it, i got some cool rides there but there were alot of sea urchins
