saquarema is the name of the city, and it's near about 100 km from Rio de Janeiro city.
You have two possibilities to ride waves em saquarema, first of all itauna and secondly praia da vila.
distance from itauna to praia da vila is about 3km. a big rock with a church on the top share these waves.
respect to be respected...
the place is magic, cheap, beautiful and peaceful if you respect the local surfers

Itauna Beach, Saquarema - Itauna beach: beautiful chilled out relaxed place - great break from Rio if all the traffic is driving you nuts and you need a time out! Pousada Espuma is the place to go-Fatima and her family are wonderful, food is excellent, good rates, spotlessly clean place and not busy this time of year so you don´t have to deal with a million and one traveller questions/interrogations!! Lovely back garden-gate leads u straight onto beach. Ignore lonely planet- Itauna Inn smells of mould and is drab!!
