Its really not a 4 star spot!!
I've lived 8 years in front of that spot, not in front of the pier since I saw it being built and being removed... When the pier was still up there was a 75% chance you would find some nice, opening fun waves...Many other days i would get there and waves were closing out. Now a days without the pier, i should say its one of the worst surf spots in rio!!! no more good waves...

no pier
there´s no pier anymore. the waves are still good, as it´s a good beachbreak (barra da tijuca) with good sandbars, but the pier used to help produce a nice sandbar.

Ok i'm from florida and the waves in rio make it worth a trip so its not a world class break, but if your a good surfer u can make the best of it. There is a bunch of cry babys on this site.......

okay, great surfing days in Australia, but your women, you cooky, is a bunch of drunk hookers, but i think it´s nota problem for you, australian guys, because your are always drunk and shitting around.
Rio is a great city, with good surf, not like cali, oz or hawwaii, but awesoem chicks and views...

go if it looks good
ive been living in front of this spot for a year now, its definatly a great wave when working and have scored it big time. The Right that breaks good when 3-5f is fast,heavy and walls up for a good hitting and barrels.On the left side its a sweet paddle out next to the pier and breaks 2-5f a fast left and a slower right. Have fun if you score good and wave to me if you see a gringo chick, kat

3 Stars at most
People tends to get emotional about the ratings of spots, specially of their local favorites...But lets face it, Rio doesnt offer world class waves...Pier is a good alternative, nice tubes when the conditions are ideal, but dont expect great surfing on an average day.

Overrated
Sometimes it gets good.

But four stars. Come on! It is too much.

The pier is very short and does not handle big sweels.
