marcelo mundaka,uluwatu...I believe you guys need to go there and see what a real wave is...not putting guaratiba down, because it is a classic wave, foward, never cutback and nice barrels.way better that this summer in hawaii, here sucks...can't wait to north swells arrive

Locals knowledge appreciated Sorry guys but we must be talking about 6-9ft faces as comments on all areas surrounding this place are average, and a 6-9ft hawaiian wave is a good size wave. Where is the best area of breaks to surf in Brasil? would love some local feeback

1st, it's called barra de guaratiba. 2nd, it goes up to 2m, and no more.this spot is actually the left corner of a 40km beach, with great sandbars and waves, that break a lof more often than the rivermouth (it's a bay mouth in fact). the problem: it's a military area, with forbidden entrance. you may go walking along the beach at its beggining, but beware of board-breaking soldiers. or go paddling and you'll have no problem.some people say that the right corner of this beach has an excellent right breaking on big SW swells, but i've never seen any picture. Anyway, the access should be very hard, especially if the swell is big.

watch the sharks whoever posted this spot here is a f#@*ing haolle cuz it never works bigger than 7 feet. and to be 6feet here everywhere else must be 12 feet plus. something thats very rare in Rio. and the dork dont even know the name of the spot. avoid problem if u come here come by your self and respect the neighborhood. oh and be aware of sharks

5m/16ft my ass I´ve never heard or seen Guaratiba pumping 5 m waves. When it is on with 1,0m to 2,5m (the biggest I´ve surfed there) the closer big wave spots like Grumari (pretty more exposed to the swell)are in its maximum range (maximum 4 m.If it happened some day, probably the spot were completely out of control. On the other hand the other information is alright. It is our tropical little Mundaka.
