From this beachbreak you can see Pontao. This other wave breaks very close to the rocks and barreled nicely. When i was visiting a crapload of locals surfed the barrel so i didn`t try it...looked very nice though.....
Overview
Atmosphere
The leblon line-up seemed to be populated mostly by bodyboarding kids and teenage surfers. one day a swimmer got caught by the rip and he drifted out in the ocean ...the beach guards seem alert about the danger.
General
I surfed it from about knee height to chest height as it got bigger it got faster and faster. I broke a fin and crashed my board up a bit.. a lot of the locals had smashed boards, and there where board noses floating around in the water..the surfers at Leblon was much more friendly than those at Arpoador.
Not really worth it.. some of the pics look great but i can tell you it's pure illusion. Some are fat and don't break, and most of them close out. Add to that a bunch of half-brained over-worked out locals who think they are at Sunset (like the dude below...fora haole? they probably can't even pronounce it properly) and you have all the ingredients for a crappy session. Go further along the coast and you'll find better waves with more decent crowds, even though, this being Rio de Janeiro, decent is always relative: The crowds suck and most people have no idea of how to behave in a lineup!
