Hey Dude! I live in Buenos Aires too. See, I go to Mar Del Plata for good surfing each time I can. There are two good places I'd recommend you. If you're searching for nice and fast waves go to Punta Mogotes and look for a point called Guillermo. It could also be Mariano too. Its sweet for shortboards...But if youu wanna surf easy, with cool but smallers waves, speciall for hybryds, longs and could work for shorts too, go to Waikiki. The best of that is that both places are quite close, about half a km. Hope it work for you. Other thing...First search in pages like www.windguru.com cause in MDQ (Mar del Plata) sometimes you'll get 3m tall wavees and some others... less than a meter. The wind and tides changes ver oftenly.

October 08 I am going to be headed down to Buenos Aires for work in Oct and was wondering if it would be worth it to extend my trip a few days to see if I could get in some surf (Mar del Plata) while all the way down in Argentina. I'm a short board surfer and have been surfing for almost 30 years and can hold my own. I would like to know the possibilities of getting good surf -->(overhead to double overhead barrels) in October. I understand it would still be a gamble and know I may be there at the wrong time. I was thinking on bringing a board but what is the possibilities of rentals or purchasing a board down there. I normally surf 6'8" tri-fin squash or pin tail range shortboards. Do the surf shops have a good selection of board or stock rack boards where I could find one like I mentioned above? thanks for any replies

Windsurf in Argentinia Hi, I'm a windsurfer from Austria and am thinking about coming to Argentinia for Windsurfing. Can anyone give me some information about the conditions there? How often is there wind and how strong is it? Is it good for wavesailing? I'd prefer to go there this autumn/winter, that means from november on. I'd also like to do a little bit pure surfing, but the main focus would be on wavesailing. I'd prefer to have a nice place as "homebase", but also to get around to try different spots. Is Argentinia worth it?

Argentina Surf I am 21 and currently living in BA until July '08. I am from East Coast US and was hoping to get a little surfing in while Im here. I brought 2 short boards and a solid 3mil. I am studying abroad here so I cant get away for long periods of time, but will be good thursday-sunday every weekend. I am just looking for some travel advice from BA down to Mar Del Plata, or anywhere someone might suggest there will be surf. My Spanish is not great, but I can get by. Anyone know any good hostels, buses that are from BA-Mar Del Plata, beaches to surf... If anyone is in BA and wants to head down together Id love the company. It may not be the best place to ask, but I hear surf in Uruguay can get good too. Plus theres a cheap ferry from BA - Montevideo. Anyone? p.s. Holy week starts March 20 and I was hoping to plan a trip March 19 - March 23... My e-mail is foxmc@jmu.edu
