Additional Surfing Infos
Park your car parallel to the beach in the parking area its free but usually crowded on a sunny day. If you want to surf these waves put a lot of speed into it and expect frequent close outs and shallow areas so dont wipe out too much... these waves are swell 2 to 3 times a year mostly wind chop up to 5 feet, or 6 feet if super-windy. Watch out for man-o-war, sea lice, sharks, seaweed.
  Overview
Atmosphere The atmosphere is just a bunch of old longboarders on small days and sum decent surfers on good days. Locals dont care if you are out of town but sum do.. I dont know all of them.
General This spot is horrible it breaks close to the beach, the rides are short and its mostly windchop. Dont go unless its going OFF! and if it is drive a couple miles north to the pier and it's probably better

mostly quiet.. breaks 1-2 a month
usually a longboard or fish quality wave.. but with the storms it can be head high.

you may have to pay a few $$$ to park along the beach.

There is no localism.. a place to learn on actually.

You should have been here before Katrina hit
What nobody knows except us old hairy longboard guys is this; when a hurricane is approaching nice and slow like Katrina did in '05 is when 14th shows what it can do; truth be told it is a sloppy, constantly shifting, sandbar that does break in close, but when its on, there are few places better in Florida except maybe Jupes or Sebastian. As far as sharks, thats pretty funny. Good beach to learn to surf at, lots of girls and groms, fun atmosphere; No aggro attitudes, except for that one overly spoiled Cardinal Gibbons Sophomore that didn't realize I have been surfing longer than he was alive; I informed him of prior fact in front of his friends and he shut up real fast...apart from that, great place to give impromptu surf lessons to visiting wahines
