First you have to get to the Registry Hotel which is at the end of Pine Ridge Road. Then you pay a stupid fee and ride the tram or walk(its freakin far) the little path way, when you get to the end walk about a foot ball feilds length to the pass.
If you live where I live and always have to travel to get good surf and are tired of it, this is an ok spot, best season is hurricane season and thats when you can get up to a 10' wave. Storms help too. Wind is what gets these waves going and the pass ofcourse. and also theres some pretty awsome skimboarding
Overview
Atmosphere
On A good day its pretty cool, you can get food at a hut , if you got the money and are willing to pay over the top prices. Sometimes the tourist get in your way but hey if you knock a head off its ok. lol
Clam Pass
this spot is actually on the West Coast of FL. we used to vacation in this area when i was young and still go back from time to time. i've seen it go off once, big rights breaking on the south side of the pass and smaller, hollower lefts on the north side. i only saw this happen once, and i was way too young to surf it at the time. the best part about this beach is the current comming out of the pass gets really strong on an outgoing tide, so you can actually walk up the pass with a bodyboard and there's a tree a couple hundred yards back you can jump out of right into the pass. you just hop off the branch, get your body board under you before you hit the water, and hold on tight for a fun, fast ride that will take you about 50 yards out into the gulf. so bring a bodyboard if you come here to surf, so if the waves go flat, you can still have some fun riding the currents in the pass. i've never seen the pass on a strong full moon tide, or during heavy rains, but i imagine the current can get even stronger and faster.
