Its at most got 10 surfers out there at a time and its definately the best brak in jacksonville.

Drift! - Just go to Hanna Park and let the current drift you to the base ;) Usually the guard won't bother whistle at you to come back...

No different - Ive surfed both , the poles and the base. Basically the only difference is more sharks and less people. It might be a little more hollow at times. ON some days the poles will be better or vice-versa.

beach access - Stop reading these other babbling msgs - I grew up surfing Hanna Park and the base (the Poles are inbetween) for 15 years, and it boils down to this: don't try to sneak past the guard at the Poles because they're really edgy since 9/11, and lock your car up at all lots in Hanna. Entry fee is now $1, and the Poles is only different when the swell is really kicking in. The key is the jetty, 1 1/2 miles north on the base side.
