 Access

just north of rodanthe at the southern end of pea island on the cape hatteras national seashore, the road s-turns several hundred yards before a group of large vacation houses (the break does shift north or south year to year, however). if the waves are halfway decent you'll see plently of surfers and their cars parked along the road. do not park in the sand! keep two tires on the road, and walk over the sand dunes to the waves.

 Additional Information

extremly crowded in warm months if there's waves, but there are no bad vibes. can probably surf it alone in the winter but the water goes down to the low 40s. it's a powerful beachbreak so don't hesitate when standing up.

Star Bar - When it's good all of the hot locals are here. One of my fave spots on Hatteras.

Watch out for the pipes coming out of the ground in front of the beach houses.

tons of barrels - You'll definitely get your barrel count up at this break. With the right swell I have scored over 2o barrels in one day. Some waves, three barrels to a wave. Excellent wave. I only surf it in the off season though.

good wave - just got back from outer banks. s-turns was by far the best break on its day. very hollow fun wave. crowded but still fun as there are a couple peaks. if in hatteras don't miss this spot.
